Reskin EGF Super Bomber Serum for Men Product Review

Today I am reviewing the Reskin EGF Super Bomber Serum for Men (50 ml). I was sent one of these (and an EGF Super Bomber Eye Serum, review here) earlier this month complimentary in exchange for my honest review of the product. Reskin is a Korean beauty brand that I am only recently familiar with because they sent me some of their reskin Solution Foam last month - Reskin Solution Foam review. The Reskin website has basic product descriptions but no ingredients lists. In fact I was unable to locate any full ingredients list online for this product. I checked CosDNA to see if there were any entries, but there was only one for the Women's serum so I made one: CosDNA Analysis of EGF Super Bomber Serum for Men.

Reskin EGF Super Bomber Serum for Men ingredients:

Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Lepidium Meyenii Root extract, Betula Platyphylla Japonica juice, Centella Asiatica extract, Portulaca Oleracea extract, Vitex Agnus Castus extract, Chamomilla Recuitia (matricaria) Flower extract, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castior oil, Bis-PEG-18 Methyl Ether Dimethyl Silane, Dimethicone, Arginine, Octyldodeceth-16, Clyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Hydroxyethylcellulose, 1,2-Hexanediol, Betaine, Isopropyl Myristate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Caprylyl Glycol, sh-Oliogopeptide-1 (.2 ppm), Glyceryl Carylate, Carbomer, BHT, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance.

The EGF in the title stands for Epidermal Growth Factor, a polypeptide that speeds up wound recovery.  According to Wikipedia it stimulates cell growth and regeneration and that its production is stimulated by testosterone. Hmmm...so do dudes have more of this naturally? Anyhow, there's still much controversy over EGF in the beauty industry as it is still relatively new. Apparently this serum comes in a few different versions, the difference being how many parts per million (ppm) of EGF there is in the formulation (mine is .2 ppm, listed on the box). I could not find one place online that detailed which version it was selling, and there were no ingredients lists to check  for yourself. That would frustrate me immensely if I were trying to purchase any of them.

The Reskin EGF Super Bomber Serum for Men is intended to repair, brighten, tighten, and moisturize. My main concern is a dull, uneven skin tone so I was really excited to try this serum. I have been using this serum twice a day for a couple of weeks now and really like it.

How my Rating Works
  • Effectiveness is 2/3 of the Total Rating
  • Packaging is 1/6 of the Total rating
  • Physical Qualities is 1/6 of the rating

Reskin EGF Super Bomber Serum for Men Individual Ratings (0 - 5)

  • Effectiveness = 3
    • The serum is immediately hydrating without feeling greasy. Skin looks slightly brighter after use. Ingredients are definitely nourishing the skin. Does not break me out. I started to notice a very slight improvement in uneven skin tone after a few weeks of use. Did not notice any repairing or improvement of damaged skin other than slight lightening of darker areas.
  • Packaging = 4
    • The packaging and bottle have an attractive, modern design. The bottle and box are recyclable. The bottle has a plastic tab in the dispenser hole to keep product from coming out prior to use or for travel. The product dispenses easily from a pump top, requiring more than one pump so no excessive waste. The one negative I can find is the bottle feels cheap; it is so lightweight it gets knocked over very easily.
  • Physical Qualities = 5
    • It is clear and feels enjoyably slippery gliding over or patting in to the skin. It absorbs quickly, allowing me to layer other products over it immediately. It layers over other products well. The aroma is subtle and is reminiscent of an herbal tea. I can find nothing negative regarding physical qualities.
Reskin EGF Super Bomber Serum for Men Total Rating = 3.75

As with all products, your mileage may vary (YMMV). I really enjoy using the Reskin EGF Super Bomber Serum for Men; it feels, smells, and layers great. For the price tag on this product ($54 on Amazon, $79 on reskin website, and $102 on Korea Depart) I would expect to see a more drastic improvement in uneven skin-tone and texture as well as packaging that felt more high-end. I couldn't find information about how long EGFs should take to start noticing changes so I'm going to finish this whole bottle off and see if it the effectiveness improves with long-term use as with many other types of skincare ingredients/products.

It was really difficult to photograph the bottle; the bottle is silver and contained within another clear plastic bottle so there is a lot of refracting and reflecting going on making it nearly impossible to get a clear photograph of the lettering.
