I picked up these Fruit & Veggie Life Extender Foam Fridge Mats made by Any Kitchen Stuff off of Amazon.com last month. They are intended to extend the life of produce, help prevent spoilage, and keep food fresh and crispy. They work by improving the air circulation and by providing insulation to wane off mold.
I love fresh fruits and vegetables but often don't get around to eating them before they go bad. I was fairly skeptical at first about these mats but have since come around. My produce bins no longer get wet on the bottom, fruit stays fresh for days longer, and vegetables stay crisp for much longer.
The mats are 16" x 12", plenty large enough for most produce drawers and are easy to cut to size. I just have mine laid in the bottom of the produce drawers but you can line an entire drawer (sides and all) for added protection. The package says that theses are washable, though there are not any instructions on how to wash it or what type, if any, soap should be used.
