Tarteist Lip Paint Review

I got this Tarte Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint in Vibin in my last ipsy Glam Bag and have been looking forward to trying it out. It looks like a deep, rusty vermillion color though on the website it describes it as a wine shade (I am not seeing that AT ALL). A couple of days ago it was my birthday and it also happened to be a snow day so bam! day off. My partner and I decided to go have lunch at BurgerFi, it's very close to my place and I really like their veggie burgers. I exfoliated and moisturized my lips about 15 minutes before application then applied first to my lip lines and then filled them in. The color is very dark and unforgiving to mistakes, even more so because the paint dries extremely fast. I did not do such a great job on my lines but knowing I'd be eating within in an hour I wasn't all that concerned. I felt this color was a little much at first, it's so deep and, well, rusty colored. I would be very worried if I was ever offered wine of this color.

I let the paint dry for about 20 minutes before leaving the house and felt more comfortable venturing out at 1:00 pm with such a warm, dark shade. It was a total of about 45 minutes before I began eating the amazing VegeFi burger pictured below.

The first napkin wipe revealed lip paint on it... By the end of the burger this was the result. Outer edges obliterated, flakes, inner lips completely bare, and uneven shading.

Boooooooooooooo.

Seriously so disappointing. The website claims this is an all day wearing, transfer proof lip paint. NOPE. I could wear this to work and reapply after lunch but if I'm doing that, I'd rather just wear a creamy, hydrating nude lipstick.

My rating for the Tarte Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint in Vibin is 2/10. This product doesn't do what it says and the color isn't at all like the product description. It only gets 2 points because it dries super quick, only takes one layer, and won't kiss off. Drinking or eating will destroy it.

Has anyone else tried any of the quick dry matte lip paints? How was the wearing and were the colors as described?

  1. I'm sorry you didn't like this! It's a shame about the uneven wear, especially from a brand like Tarte!
